Shippers’ Council Partners With NCS To Enlighten Staff On Authorized Economic Operator.

In furtherance of its determination to foster inter-agency collaboration, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council has partnered with the Nigeria Customs Service for a workshop program on Authorized Economic Operation (AEO) for the Council’s operation officers.

In his opening remarks, the ES/CEO, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima MON, represented by the Director of the Council’s Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. Celestine Akujobi, harped on the importance of the AEO initiative in trade facilitation, while rallying on the staff to utilize the opportunity given by the Customs.

Akutah, encouraged participants to engage actively in the program, emphasizing that the event is not just about raising awareness, but also about collecting valuable feedback and insights that would contribute to the success of the AEO initiative.

In his presentation, ASC B.A. Ghali, a member of the AEO Technical Working Group, highlighted the objectives of the AEO Initiative, focusing on promoting compliance and boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market.

According to him, one of the core goals of the AEO program is to reduce the challenges that contribute to high costs in cross-border business operations by streamlining processes and ensuring faster trade facilitation.
