Akpabio Condoles Capt Iniobong Ekong On Mother’s Burial

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has condoled with the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, Captain Iniobong Ekong (rtd) on the burial of his mother, Deaconnes Edoabasi Edward Ekong who was interred on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Nsit Ubium, Akwa Ibom.

Capt. Ekong served in the administration of Akpabio as Governor of Akwa Ibom State (2007 – 2015) as Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters. Senator Akpabio was represented at the burial by his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.

In his condolence message Senator Akpabio said, “On behalf of my family, the good people of Akwa Ibom North West (Ikot-Ekpene) Senatorial District and the 10th Senate, I join you to mourn the demise of your beloved mother, late Deaconess Edoabasi Edward Ekong.

“The story of your mother’s enthusiasm for education as a girl child is an inspiring narrative of doggedness, commitment and conviction. Armed with these attributes, she became a teacher and in the course of her glowing career taught and mentored pupils across schools in our dear State. Today, we have a plethora of her products making meaningful contributions to society.

“Losing such a valuable mother is harrowing and undoubtedly occasions a void that may be difficult to fill. I therefore have a full understanding of the pain that confronts you and other members of the family especially your father whose spousal relationship with the deceased spanned decades.

“I urge you to be consoled by the fact that your late mother lived a fulfilled life, having successfully raised meaningful replacements and mentoring many.

“Further take solace in the life of service she lived which shall continue to serve as stencils of her legacies.

“While I pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit for your dear father, you and other members of the family, I ask the Lord in His mercy to grant the soul of the departed eternal repose.

“Once again, please accept my heartfelt condolences.”
