EPL Round Up: Chelsea go top with late win over Southampton
Chelsea have moved to the top spot on the Premier League standings after they dispatched 10-man Southampton 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
James Ward-Prowse scored a penalty only to be sent off for a late, lunging tackle on Jorginho, opening the door for Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell to score late goals that sent the Blues back to winning ways.
Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Everton teed up the chance for Chelsea to climb to the league’s summit, and after a testing and at times tetchy afternoon, Thomas Tuchel’s men got it right; delivering all the three points needed.
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday after Andros Townsend’s equaliser cancelled out Anthony Martial’s opener for the home side.It was another disappointing result for United, following their home defeat to Aston Villa last week, but continued the impressive start that Everton have made under Rafael Benitez.
Both teams are on 14 points, together with Liverpool who face Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
