What Tinubu Told APC Governors During His Meeting With Them In Abuja

Details of the meeting between the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu and the progressive governors have emerged.

Tinubu had called a meeting with the governors shortly after the declaration of the vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Osinbajo had on Sunday met with the same governors to intimate them about his presidential ambition.

The Monday’s meeting with the former Lagos governor was held behind a closed door.

However, journalists waited with bated breath to get a clue of what the meeting was all about.

Immediately after the meeting, Tinubu alongside some of the governors spoke to journalists on what the gathering was about.

According to the presidential aspirant, he called the governors to a meeting to seek for their supports, collaboration and encouragement for his ambition to be president of Nigeria.

“My mission here is to seek collaboration, support, and encouragement of my party, the APC, for my ambition to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a replacement for President Muhammadu Buhari after his tenure,” he said.

Reacting to the declaration of professor Yemi Osinbajo for 2023 presidential election whom Journalists tagged as his son, Tinubu said he does not have a son who is grown enough to be president of Nigeria.

In other word, he is neither aware of Osinbajo’s ambition nor consider him as his protege.

The Governors however promised to discuss his request, process it and communicate their decisions to him as soon as possible. This was stated by the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu.

APC presidential primary is scheduled for May this year when about eight aspirants including Bola Tinubu will slug it out for the party ticket.
