I’m Praying For God’s Direction On Wether To Support Atiku Abubakar Or Not- Ortom Opens Up
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has made his stance known on the emergence of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party.
Since Atiku emerged as the party Flagbearer and his choice of Ifeanyi Okowa as running mate ahead of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, the PDP has been threatened with an omnious division among its leaders.
While some pitch their tent with Atiku Abubakar, others are ready to swim and sink with the Rivers Governor. Among those who are ardent supporters of Wike is Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Since Wike lost the presidential ticket, Ortom has consistently thrown his weight behind him and despite all his efforts for Wike to emerge as Atiku’s running mate, it didn’t yield any effort.
Speaking on the Wednesday edition of Arise TV Morning Show, Ortom explained his position on the candidature of Atiku Abubakar and how Wike was robbed with the vice presidential candidacy.
Asked if he is ready to support Atiku since Wike did not emerge as the party Flagbearer, Ortom said he is yet to make up his mind on that decision.
According to him, he is still praying to God for direction whether to support Atiku or not.
He explained that he was among the 16-man Committee set up to select the vice presidential candidate for Atiku. 14 of them picked Wike while only two went for Okowa.
But Atiku in his own wisdom decided to settle for Okowa. His reason is not known to them.
Ortom described wike as the right man for the vice presidential slot and he is the only person from that region that can match Tinubu politically and deliver reasonable votes for the party in the South.
He explained that the treatment given to Wike is unfair considering his commitment and sacrifices for the party since 1999.
