Atiku Was One Of The First People To Abandon June 12, Tinubu, Sowore Continued The Struggle- Festus Keyamo Reveals

Minister of state for Labour and Employments, Festus Keyamo has opened an old wound on the June 12 struggle that nearly ripped the country apart in 1993.

The anulled election and its attendant crisis was believed to have been the bedrock of democracy that is being enjoyed today in Nigeria.

However, Keyamo was of the opinion that not all the beneficiaries of the dividend of June 12 actually participated in the struggle at that time.

Revealing this in a thread of tweets on his Twitter handle on Thursday evening, the former minister of Niger Delta affairs identified the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar as one of the first people to abandon the struggle in 1993.

He said APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was pivotal to the struggle from exile and Omoyele Sowore who was a Students Union Leader at that time led the struggle from his jurisdiction as a student. He noted that many of the presidential candidates today has nothing to do with June 12.

Keyamo said after the struggle, strangers emerged from different corners to reap from where they did not so. He explained that Obasanjo who vehemently opposed the struggle became the greatest beneficiary of June 12.

He noted that the former Nigerian president was not actually the choice of Yoruba people in 1999 because he betrayed the course of June 12.

Keyamo however said the election of Bola Tinubu will correct this anomaly in 2023.

The legal luminary made this known on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
