Labour Party presidential candidate, Dr Peter Obi has shed more light into reason some people are heavily criticizing him in the public since he declared his intention to contest to become Nigeria’s president and emerged the Labour Party Flagbearer for 2023 presidential election.
Until his emergence from labour party, not many Nigerians gave attention to the party as many believe it has no potential or structure to win such a major election in the country.
However, Peter Obi has suddenly changed the narratives since he picked the party’s ticket and consequently turned it into a third force that has made it a dominant party in the political space.
While speaking at the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session in Kaduna on Monday, the former governor of Anambra state explained that he has become one of the most criticized politicians in the country since he began his electioneering campaign.
He said people tagged him as an ethnic bigot and that he marginalized the Northerners who reside in Anambra while he was a governor of the State.
Peter who disclosed that his ADC, while in government, is from Kaduna and he is one of the best police officers he has ever known since then. He noted that how he could be comfortably working with him if he was maltreating his people?
The labour party presidential candidate revealed that in 2019, he was a good man because he did not contest for presidential election. He was a vice presidential candidate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party.
He said the only offense he has committed this time is that he wants to be president of Nigeria in 2023. And that is why people are saying all sorts of things against him. He urged the people at the venue not to listen to those things said again him.
