‘We’re now looking for her body’ – LASEMA debunks report DSS lady who jumped into Lagos lagoon was rescued

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has debunked report in some quarters that the lady who jumped into the third mainland bridge lagoon has been saved.

LASEMA says authorities are now searching for the body of the lady identified as Adetutu Adedokun who worked with the Department of State Services (DSS).

Adedokun had on Thursday jumped into the Lagos Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge after a heated exchange of words with her fiancé.

Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement said the lady has not been rescued from the Lagoon as claimed by some report.

He said emergency responders had given up on a rescue mission and were now battling to recover her body from the lagoon.

Oke-Osanyintolu added that investigations had failed to produce the driver of the car that she was in prior to the unfortunate incident.

In his words: “Update on alleged suicide attempt on Third Mainland Bridge. The body of adult female , identified as Adetutu Adedokun that was reported by eyewitnesses to have jumped into the lagoon is yet to be recovered.

“The lady is said to be a staff of the Department of State Services. Investigations have failed to produce the driver of the car that she was in prior to the unfortunate incident.
