Tinubu’s Media Team Speaks On Press Conference Organised To Counter Atiku, Obi’s Threats
Since the conduct and announcement of the result of the presidential election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Saturday February 25, the barrage of media fireworks between the ruling and major oppositions parties has been overwhelming in the country.
After Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress was declared winner of the election on Wednesday, candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party, Peter Obi have both rejected the outcome claiming that the election was fraught with irregularities and accused INEC of compromising its standard and violating its electoral law.
They both threatened to go to court and reclaim their mandate.
In a sharp response to the move by the opposition parties, the presidential campaign council of the ruling All Progressive Congress organised a media briefing on Friday to respond to the threat and also vowed to meet the oppositions in court.
According to the media team of the president-elect, there is need to respond to elements in the opposition who are hell bent on destabilizing the country.
The content of the press conference was made known on twitter by Femi Fani-Kayode on Saturday morning.
He wrote: “The Media Team of President-elect @officialABAT held a press conference at the Nat. Headquarters of the PCC yesterday. We responded to elements in the opposition who are hell bent on destabilising our county & who have threatened to go to court over the outcome of the election.”
