I Was Co-opted Into The Governorship Race Against My Wish – Bauchi APC Guber Candidate
The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Bauchi State, Sadiq Abubakar has revealed that he never had the intention of contesting the election scheduled for Saturday but he was persuaded to do so by people of the state.
Abubakar made this revelation while featuring on the Wednesday edition of Channels TV’s Politics Today.
The retired military officer noted that Bauchi people are tired of the incumbent governor and his party and they are yearning for genuine change.
They however believe he (Abubakar) is the only qualified person that can bring the dividends of democracy they have been denied since the People’s Democratic Party has been in government in the state.
Abubakar told Okinbaloye he is not like a regular politician that is going into government to make money. He said he is going there to serve his people and fulfill the promise he made to them. He reiterated that he never had any plan of running for this election but he was persuaded by the people.
His word: “I was not interested to run for governorship but people called on me.”
He also accaused the state government of deliberately creating insecurity to distract people ahead of the election.
