Bundesliga Move Excites Nigeria’s Emmanuel Dennis
The January transfer window has not been too eventful for Nigerian players.
However, one of the celebrated moves is that of Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Dennis who has secured a temporal switch from Club Brugge to FC Koln on loan.
The Bundesliga side have already confirmed the loan deal on their official website; adding that the 23-year should resume training with his new teammates today (Wednesday).
Dennis who in recent times had endured a torrid period at Club Brugge is understandably happy he now has a new lease of life in Germany where he is ready to prove a point yet agian.
“The last six months were not easy for me. I want to play and score goals, and therefore I wanted to make a move in the current transfer window. I am pleased that I’m now at FC,” Dennis told the club website.
“I know what the sporting situation at FC is – therefore I want to play my part in keeping us in the league, by playing and scoring in a top league.”
The forward has only made 13 appearances across all competitions for Club Brugge this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
That nonetheless, Cologne managing director Horst Heldt highlighted some of the qualities of the Nigeria international that made the club recruit him.
“Emmanuel is a quick player, who can play through the middle as a striker as well as on the wings. His finishing ability last season saw him gain the interest of many top clubs,” Heldt said.
Dennis who has been with Club Brugge since the summer of 2017 joined the former champions from Zorya Luhansk.
The forward has made more than 90 appearances across all competitions for Club Brugge and delivered some spectacular performances in domestic competitions and even in the Champions League scoring against top sides like Real Madid.
Dennis should feel at home instantly at Koln as the German team already has two Nigerians; Kingsley Ehizibue and Tolu Arokodare on their roster.
Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh also played for Koln during his career.
