Big trouble: Gov Yahaya Bello vows to sue PTF for naming Kogi as covid-19 epicentre
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has expressed his administration’s resolve to declare legal battle on Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Coronavirus epidemic due to the latter’s declaration that the state has ‘high prevalence,’ of the deadly virus.
The state government made the declaration through the governor’s spokesman, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo in an interview with newsmen.
He said, “We very much believe their intent was to ensure investors are scared from coming to the state. Despite their unreliable figures, Kogi emerged the investment destination of Nigeria in the last quarter of 2020.
“They felt embarrassed and the best way to hit back is to create a picture of the health crisis in the state,” Mr Fanwo said.
The state was hinted to be high risk destination by the federal government over governor Bello’s refusal to acknowledge the existence of COVID-19, while also undermining the prevention and treatment for residents.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 also accused governor Bello for not allowing Covid-19 tests to be conducted in Kogi while refusing to build isolation centres.
