Explosion Leaves Port Harcourt Residents In Darkness

An explosion, which occurred at the Woji Injection Substation and affected the 33kv control panel on Friday has plunged some areas in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, into darkness.

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company said the impact of the explosion is currently affecting customers in Woji, Ogbatai, Nvigwe and other areas feeding from the ISS.

This was made known in a statement issued on Saturday reads: “Esteemed customers, kindly be informed that there was an explosion at the Woji Injection Substation (ISS) and as a result, the 33kv control panel was affected.

“Customers in Woji, Ogbatai, Nvigwe and others feeding from the ISS are currently out of supply.

“We assure customers within the area that supply will be restored as soon as work is completed. We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience,” the PHED disclosed in a statement.

Meanwhile, officials of the PHED could not explain the cause of the explosion.
