Not less than 12 people were burnt alive while 17 houses were razed by bandits in the early hours of Sunday at Gin din DutseMkyali village of Kufana district in Kajiru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The recent onslaught came barely 48 hours after hoodlums invaded Kauru and Igabi local government areas where nine persons were killed and 35 were abducted.
Speaking in an interview on the recent attack,a community leader, Moses Musa, disclosed that the invaders stormed the village around 5am when the community was asleep and started shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that the bandits burnt 12 persons, injured nine, and set 17 houses ablaze in the attack that lasted for several hours.
However, as of the time of filing this report, normalcy had been restored in the community.
Spokesman for the state command of the Nigeria Police, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the attack, saying that the injured victims had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
He said the Command had deployed Special Forces in the community and environs with a view to arresting the attackers and rescuing the victims.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State governor, Senator UbaSani, has condemned the renewed attack in the Kajuru Local Government Area, describing it as inhumane and barbaric.
In a statement issued by his Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Sunday, he was quoted as saying that the attack came at a time the state government was working closely with security agencies and other critical stakeholders on ways of mitigating security challenges in the state.
While he condoled with the people of Kajuru and families of the victims, Governor Sani directed the State Emergency Management Agency to immediately assist the affected communities following the razing of their houses and other valuables.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity in the state.
