Breaking News: Jubilation as abducted Adamawa United driver regains freedom
Nigeria Professional Football League side, Adamawa United Football Club have something to cheer about even if the results on the pitch of play are not going their way yet.
The abducted driver of the NPFL club, Kabiru Mohammed, who was kidnapped in the early hours of last Saturday, has finally regained his freedom.
Kabiru was set free Wednesday night, Roving Naija confirmed on Thursday morning.
In a video sighted by Roving Naija on Thursday, the released driver said: “I am free now from kidnappers, they just released me now… for the past six hours, I thank everybody that put hand for this mater, I thank God I am now free, I am in Anambra state I thank God am now free.. Nagode Allah,”
The driver was kidnapped along Benin-Ore-Lagos road when the bus in which he was driving the players and officials of the football club was attacked by gunmen who swooped on them from the bush.
The football team were on their way to keep a date with MFM Football Club in Lagos on a week 11 NPFL fixture.
Adamawa United lost that game 2-0 at the Agege Stadium last Sunday.
