Monkey Pox: NEMA Isolates Suspected Case In Maiduguri IDP Camp
In a swift response to the alert of a suspected Monkey Pox case at one of the IDP Camps in Maiduguri, raised by a netizen, NEMA medical team, supported by staff of USAID and WHO, has successfully isolated the patient, her mum and those she has come in contact with.
According to preliminary assessment, the mother, when asked, stated that the child has been down with rashes for two weeks and none of her siblings has such symptoms. The Borno Local Government Disease Surveillance team has taken her blood sample for further examination while she continues to receive medical attention.
“We have, however, escalated the case to appropriate health authorities, including NCDC.
We have directed the strict compliance of all prevention measures against the spread of the infectious disease across all our camps, including practice of proper, regular handwashing, and disinfection of the surroundings”, the agency said..
