About 13 persons have been reported killed while seven others are injured in coordinated attacks in Zangon Kataf in Kauru and Chikum Local Government Areas (LGA) of Kaduna State.
In his reaction to the sad developments, Governor Nasir el-Rufai has sent his condolences to the families of the bereaved and wished the injured citizens quick recovery.
According to a statement by Samuel Aruwan, commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, about 56 houses were burnt down by the attackers.
The statement further read that Armed bandits attacked one Irmiya Godwin and his brothers as they returned from their farm in Gora Gan village of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Irmiya; while Godwin was killed his brother escaped.
The statement also said that in a separate incident in Kizachi village in Kauru Local Government Area, 10 persons were killed with four injured while 56 houses and 16 motorcycles were burnt. He gave the names of those killed in the attacks as: Esther Bulus, Maria Bulus, Dije Ibrahim, Awuki Ali, Yakubu Ali, Dije Waziri and Joseph Ibrahim. Those injured and receiving treatment include Cicilia Aku, Yakubu Idi, Godiya Saleh and Moses Adamu.
In a related development, one Duza Bamaiyi was killed while two persons sustained injuries in Chikum Local Government while armed bandits killed one Zakka Pada in Kurmin Kaduna of Chikum Local Government Area while Pada Dalle was injured.
