The newly appointed General Manager of the Lagos State Command and Control Centre, Mr. Femi Kennedy Giwa, has officially assumed office, unveiling a strategic work plan to reposition the Centre for enhanced public safety and improved incident response.
Recently appointed by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the General Manager expressed deep gratitude for the Governor’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transforming the Centre into a world-class hub for incident coordination and public safety, reiterating the plans of Mr. Governor to put in place a robust operational framework and a more efficient governance as evident in his remark at the presentation of Lagos State’s 2025 budget, wherein Mr. Governor emphasized “the significance of enhancing public safety and operational efficiency through improved infrastructure, including upgrades at the Lagos State Command and Control Centre” .The General Manager stated that as part of his strategic Work Plan, infrastructures at the Centre would be upgraded and cutting-edge technology would be introduced for efficiency and improved response time to incidents, enhanced coordination as well as increased capacity for data handling . The General Manager further stated that the Strategic Work Plan also addressed managing emerging threats such as cyber security, climaterelated disasters and urban security issues amongst others. He emphasized that the Work Plan is in alignment with Governor Bajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda and vision for the Centre, aimed at improving response efficiency, strengthening inter-agency collaboration and integrating State-of -the Art Technology for monitoring of public safety.
Since his assumption of office, the General Manager has commenced key initiatives, including a review of existing processes, the introduction of innovative systems for incident management, and stakeholder engagement to foster seamless collaboration among emergency responders in the State.
Praising Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwolu’s numerous achievements, the General Manager reiterated the administration’s dedication to prioritizing safety of Lagosians through continuous upgrading and modernization of infrastructure and operations of the Centre as well as public advocacy on the right use of the emergency toll free line of the state “767/112” in making Lagos State a safe, secure, and livable megacity for all residents and visitors
The General Manager affirmed that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu wishes to assure all residents of Lagos State of its resolute commitment to safety and security during the festive season. As the yuletide approaches, the Lagos State Command and Control Centre is fully operational and on red alert to respond swiftly to any distress calls.
Residents are urged to report emergencies, security threats, or accidents through the toll-free emergency numbers 767 or 112. Assistance will be deployed promptly, ensuring timely intervention in all situations..
