The Permanent Secretary, Health District IV, Dr. Abimbola Bowale has stated that with the way Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is prioritising healthcare, it is only a matter of time before every ward in the State has its primary healthcare centre. He added that the Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring that Lagosians enjoy quality healthcare at the grassroots.
Dr. Bowale made this known recently while fielding questions as a Guest on a Radio Lagos programme, “Citizens Gate”, conceived by the Office of Political Legislative and Civic Engagement.
Dr. Bowale, who also doubles as Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Primary Healthcare Board, added that the division of the State into six Health Districts is a game changer that has revolutionised the State Health Sector and brought efficiency and effectiveness into the healthcare system of the State.
While commending the six Permanent Secretaries of the Districts for going above and beyond the line of duty, he noted that both the State and Local Government are responsible for taking care of the Health Centres, adding that the State will leave no stone unturned to ensure that everyone, including people in riverine areas and other remote places, gets access to quality healthcare.
The Permanent Secretary further reiterated that it was the commitment of the State to the growth of the health sector that made the present administration employ over 200 health workers last month, ranging from medical professionals like doctors, nurses, pharmacists, community health workers and others.
