Birnin Yauri Abduction: Security agents rescue four students and a teacher, as one student dies
Security agents on have succeeded in freeing four abducted students and a teacher while another student died in the process of securing the release of students of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State.
The rescue mission was conducted by the Joint Taskforce Component of Operation Hadari Daji on Friday in the state.
Report of the incident was confirmed by the Deputy Force Commander of the Joint Taskforce in the North-West Zone, Air Commodore Abubakar AbdulKadir, on Friday in Zamfara State.
Commodore Abdulkadir told newsmen that the troops came in contact with the bandits in the early hours and engaged them in a gun duel, which forced them to abandon five of the students and a teacher.
However, he said that one of the students whose identity was not revealed later died.
“In the early hours of this morning, we have come across the kidnappers. They came to our blocking point, and we engaged them.
“At that point, they abandoned five of the students and one of the teachers. Unfortunately, I think we have lost one of the students.”
He also revealed that the troops recovered 155 rustled animals at the Jageme area in Magami District of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
He said they got credible intelligence about the rustled animals and
troops were instructed to lay an ambush which led to their recovery.
The deputy commander said that the animals in about 12 trucks were sold to some persons at Yartasha Market in Magami District while the troops have been trailing the rustled animals for about five days before they were recovered on Thursday night.
RovingNaija recalls that over 70 students and four teachers from the school were abducted on Thursday when gunmen attacked the school and killed the security on duty.
