Five Secrets Tinubu Revealed During His Meeting With Delegates In Abeokuta

The meeting between former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and delegates from Ogun State was not just a meeting like the previous ones he had been having with delegates across the country. It was one loaded with deep revelations and diverse reflections.

Tinubu, one of the leading presidential aspirant under the All Progressive Congress practically opened up some cans of worms that may not likely fizzle out of political scene in a jiffy.

The national leader of the APC in company of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Abdullahi Ganduje and others had met with the delegates in Abeokuta on Thursday to solicit for their votes and in the process made some damning revelations they’ve never heard from him before.

The first thing he revealed was his role in the emergence of president Muhammadu Buhari as president of Nigeria.

According to him, the then presidential hopeful had given up after three failed attempts to rule the country.

Tinubu revealed that he went to visit him in Katsina and told him to contest for presidency again. He said this time, he would be the party’s candidate and he would win.

Tinubu explained that if not for him, Buhari would not have become the president.

Secondly, the presidential aspirant revealed that he made it possible for Osinbajo to emerge as vice president till today.

He (Tinubu) was initially asked to be running mate to Buhari but because of the Muslim Muslim ticket controversy, he jettisoned the call and decided to let Osinbajo’s cadiditure stand.

In the same vein, Tinubu while explaining how he arrived at decision to settle for Osinbajo, he explained that he had three names in his mind to present. They were Yemi Cardoso, Wale Edun and Yemi Osinbajo.

But he played smart by dropping only Osinbajo’s name so that they will not add the fourth one who may likely be chosen and consequently water down his 3-man list.

The fourth thing he revealed was how Bukola Saraki kicked against Muslim Muslim ticket that eventually ruled him out of vice presidential slot.

He said it was later he realized that Saraki who newly joined the party from PDP was merely trying to protect his own interest so he can emerge as the Senate president.

According to Tinubu, if he had been made the vice president, it would be impossible for Saraki who is Muslim to be Senate president.

Lastly, Tinubu revealed that he specifically told Buhari to respect Yoruba’s matter and he agreed to the statement.

Perhaps, this was a way of telling him to give way to Yoruba president after his tenure.

Until Thursday when he spoke in Abeokuta, Tinubu had never said anything relating to what really transpired in the background between him and president Muhammadu Buhari before he became president of Nigeria.

It was not also clear what really played out before Osinbajo was made the vice president.
