They Should Let Aketi Die Before Releasing His Obituary- Ondo Govt. Speaks On Sack Of D-Gov’s Media Aides,

Ondo State government has broken the silence on the suspension of media aides to the Deputy governor of the state, Honorable Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

RovingNaija Reporters recalls that governor Rotimi Akeredolu through his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olabode announced the suspension of the aides on Tuesday evening. The Press Crew attached to the office of the Deputy Governor was also disbanded.

Speaking on Wednesday edition of Channel’s TV Politics Today, the Special Adviser to the governor on Special Duties, Doyin Odebowale said the Governor and his Deputy who are covered by immunity are the only government officials who cannot be sacked in the state but can only be impeached by the state House of Assembly if they are found guilty of grievous offences.

Odebowale revealed that the governor has the power to fire any of his appointees and that of his deputy because he was the one that appointed them.

According to him, some people within the deputy governor’s camp thought Akeredolu would not be able to come back home, thinking he would die in Germany where he had been on medical vacation in the last three months.

“They were so ambitious to seize power. They were busy peddling rumours about the governor and his family. They even said he has died and his family members were only trying to shield the truth from the public so they can continue in power.

“While Aketi was away, a lot of shenanigans took place in government. Quality governance was sacrificed on the alter of politics because of excessive desire to be in control of State.

“Some of them were making mockery of the governor through their various social media accounts. They even released the governor’s obituary on social media. They didn’t bother to wait for him to die before releasing his obituary. Where is that done?” He asked

Odebowale who assured that Ondo case cannot be like that of Edo State, hinted that those who deserve to be sacked in the government especially those who deliberately divided the cabinet while the governor was away and expressed their loyalty for the deputy governor, will soon be visited.

Akeredolu is back, hale, hearty and ready for the business of governance till 2025 when his tenure will expire. Odebowale confirmed.
