Gov. Wike Hints On What Transpired Between Him, OBJ & Other Presidential Candidates In The UK 

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike is back in the country after a rancourous trip to the United Kingdom where he met with former president Olusegun Obasanjo and other presidential candidates from other political parties.

Wike, who has been in a running battle with candidate of his Party, Atiku Abubakar, shocked many Nigerians on Thursday when the story and picture of his meeting with the former vice president hit the social media.

The meeting with Atiku reportedly happened shortly after a close door meeting between him Obasanjo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress and Peter Obi of Labour Party.

Many Nigerians are of the opinion that the meeting must be connected with the possiblity of Wike forming an alliance with either Tinubu or Peter Obi as alternatives to the people’s democratic party’s candidate.

But contrary to the speculation, Wike, on his return to Nigeria on Friday evening, revealed the details of the meeting he had with Atiku and other presidential candidates in the UK.

According to Wike who spoke at the international Airport in port Harcourt on Friday, this is the first time as a team that they are meeting with presidential candidates. He said they met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, PDP Flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Wike disclosed that for whatever it’s worth, consultation is ongoing. He noted that for whatever they are talking about, it is for the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. It is not parochial and tied to one person or group of persons. He said they believe that with what is going on, it will be for the interest of Nigerians at the end of the day.

The governor returned to Port Harcourt in company of his counterpart governors, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
