Kingsley Moghalu Under Fire For Defending Wole Soyinka’s Statement Over Baba-Ahmed’s TV Outburst 

Former presidential candidate of the Young People’s Party, Professor Kingsley Moghalu has come under intense fire for supporting the statement made by Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka on Arise TV.

Wole Soyinka, while featuring on Wednesday edition of Arise TV Morning Show described Datti Baba-Ahmed’s comment on TV as threatening, menacing and condemnable.

The Professor was reacting to the interview granted by the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party on Channels TV Politics Today some days ago.

Baba-Ahmed, while responding to questions from Seun Okinbaloye, revealed that the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be sworn-in in May 29 because he did not satisfy the constitutional provision of a legitimate president.

According to him, if Tinubu is sworn-in, it will mark the end of democracy in Nigeria and it will amount to swearing-in of a military government.

Commenting on Datti’s position, Soyinka said he has never heard anyone threaten the judiciary like Baba-Ahmed did. He condemned the utterance and described it as reckless.

Reacting on his verified twitter page, Kingsley Moghalu, who is the former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, expressed his support for Wole Soyinka for condemning Datti’s Statement.

He wrote: “Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka is a principled fighter for justice in our country and around the world. He is a phenomenon that unlettered and uncultured people may not fully understand in an age of lazy social media in which many don’t read or think deep.

“His endorsement of my 2019 presidential candidacy in my short-lived but impactful foray into Nigerian electoral politics remains one of the greatest honors of my life. I view very dimly any criticism of him simply because he’s OBJECTIVE. He survived dictators. He will survive you”

Moghalu’s comment has subjected him to heavy criticisms on twitter by the Nigerian youths .
