Updated: FCMB MD goes on compulsory leave as bank investigates scandal
In a related development, news just reaching RovingNaija reveals that Adam Nuru, Managing Director, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has proceeded on a compulsory leave to allow the bank conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged child paternity scandal.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the bank said it was aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about its Managing Director, Adam Nuru, a former employee Mrs. Moyo Thomas and her deceased husband, Mr. Tunde Thomas.
“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr. Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of this code of ethics.
“This is already underway. During the period of the review, the managing director has volunteered to proceed on leave. This will guarantee the sanctity of the review process.
The bank appealed to its stakeholders to exercise patience while it focuses on the business of investigating the allegation.
“We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved.”
RovingNaija recalls that group, JUSTICE FOR TUNDE THOMAS’ On December 31st 2020, launched a petition on change.org calling on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sanction Adam Nuru over what they described as shameful behaviour.
The petition also demanded that the Central Bank of Nigeria and the FCMB board should dismiss Mr. Nuru on ethical grounds after it was alleged that Tunde may have died of depression arising from the alleged paternity scandal surrounding his children which was linked to Mr. Nuru.
