42 Days In Captivity, Families Of Kaduna Train Abductees Express Their Agonies During Protest

After 42 days in the den of bandits the relatives of victims abducted in the Abuja-Kaduna train have hit the streets with a heavy protest.

Speaking to Arise TV Correspondent during the protest in Abuja on Monday, one of the family members who went emotional while narrating their experience said it is unbelievable that after fourty two days, the government has not been able to do anything to secure their release.

Recalled that over 160 passengers were abducted by bandits during the Kaduna train bound attack. Since then, only two people, believed to have the money to pay ransom have been released.

Among the abductees include two pregnant women, an 85-year old grandmother, toddlers and other people who are said to be on medications.

About a week ago, one of the pregnant women reportedly delivered a baby in the captivity. The picture of the newborn was released by the abductors. Since then, nothing has been heard about the plight of the victims.

Expressing their agonies during the protest in Abuja, the families said they have tried all means to secure their release but the bandits told them emphatically that government knows what they want and it is not their (the family) money.

They explained that since the government already knows what the terrorists want, they should swing into action and give it to them so they can secure the release of their loved ones or deploy a full military action against the terrorists.

They claimed that they were most disappointed in the minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who should be leading the campaign against the continuous keeping of the innocent victims by bandits.

Rather , they said Amaechi is busy touring round the country to campaign and consult for his presidential ambition.

One of the families who went emotional while describing the situation said they have resolved within themselves to enter into the forest and vow never to return until their people are secured alive.
