A bus conductor identified as Wale Segun has narrated how he and his driver have been stealing goats whenever they take a trip to Lagos from Osun state.
The suspect who shared his story with Saturday punch revealed that he was a Lagos based borehole driller who resides in Ketu before he was arrested for the crime.
According to him, he joined his friend who is a commercial bus driver to work as a bus conductor after his friend’s sister bought the bus for him to work with,
He said he usually follows the bus whenever it comes to Lagos to load passengers and head for Osun state. And each time they are returning from Osun to Lagos, they usually steal goats along their way.
He explained that they regularly do it very early hours in the morning. Between 4:30am and 5:30 am, they would leave Osogbo and hunt for goats that are either sleeping under the shield or by the roadside.
Some of the places they have stolen goats from include Osogbo-Ibadan expressway, some communities after Gbogan town and other places.
He noted that they have done it two times successfully and it was on the third occasion they were nabbed by Amotekun operatives. On the day they were arrested, Segun confirmed that they stole 18 goats and were heading for Lagos to sale them.
He said they were arrested by Oyo State Amotekun officers who handed them over to the Osun state Amotekun Command.
Speaking on the sharing formula, he said he doesn’t know how much the goats are being sold for because they always give them to his friend’s sister who will sell and give them their own cut. But the first time they shared money, he got 50,000 naira as his own share and the money was used to buy foodstuffs.
He revealed that he is married with two kids and feeding has been tough.
“Times are hard. Due to the raining season, I don’t get borehole drilling jobs and we need to survive. I regret stealing.” He said.
