Albinsm: My Brother Once Denied Me Access To His House When His Wife Was Pregnant- Jake Epelle Recounts Touching Experience

Founder of The Albino Foundation, Jake Epelle has advised Nigerians to stop discriminating and stigmatizing people with albinism around them.

The right activist who called on government to address the situation, lamented the kind of treatment being meted out to Albinos and other people who are physically challeneged in one way or the other.

Epelle made this known while featuring on a live TV programme to discuss how stigmatization of people with disabilities can be curbed in the society.

Sharing his personal experience, he explained how his brother once stopped him from entering his house at the entrance when his wife was pregnant.

According to him, he had decided to pay a visit to his brother but to his greatest surprise, he was not allowed to enter the house simply because his brother’s wife was pregnant at that time and they don’t want him (Epelle) to infect the unborn baby with Albinsm.

Epelle revealed that even with his public exposure, contacts and social pedigree, he is still being discriminated against in the public.

He however called on the Nigerian Goverment to look into the situation and address it once and for all.
