Over 200 songs compete for honours at AFRIMA awards

Voting has commenced for the 2019 edition of African Music
Awards with over 200 songs competing for honours in various categories of the awards which is in its sixth edition.

The voting which started on September 1, has South African rapper and producer, Nasty C, and Nigerian singer Davido, as top contenders for the different categories. Nasty C, has nine nominations while Davido has six
nominations with Northern Africa superstar , Tamer Hosny, also not
left out.

The Continental categories have different genres of African music
ranging from Hip-Hop, Jazz, R’n’B, Pop and Reggae, Ragga & Dancehall.

South Africa’s Nasty C was nominated in the following categories: Best
Male Artiste in Southern Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song
of the Year in Africa, Producer of the Year in Africa, Best African
Rapper/Lyricist, Best African Collaboration, Best Artiste, Duo or
Group in African Hip-Hop, Songwriter of the Year in Africa and Best
Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B & Soul.

Nigeria’s Davido has six nominations in : Best Male Artiste in Western
Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa,
African Fans’ Favorite, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B &
Soul, and Best African Collaboration for ‘Blow My Mind with Chris
Brown’.

Nigeria’s Burna Boy will be competing in five different categories which
include: Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Artiste of the Year in
Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, Album of the Year in Africa and
Best Other artistes with multiple nominations include Diamond Platnumz with four nominations.  South Africa’s seasoned producer and DJ, Prince
Kaybee, with five nominations.

DJ Arafat of Cote de Voire earned a post humous nomination in the Best
Male category. The award takes place in November in yet to be unnamed
venue.
