Oyo Police Arrest, Parade Suspected Robbers For Stealing Imported Rugs Worth Over 50m Naira

The Oyo state police command has apprehended suspected armed robbers who allegedly hijacked and diverted 103 rolls of imported rugs valued at about five hundred and fifty million naira.

The suspected criminal gang,  specializes in hijacking and diversion of trailers loaded with valuable items on the highway across the state.

Speaking while parading the suspect alongside twenty-eight other suspects at the command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the spokesman of the command, Adewale Osifeso said the suspect, Moses Isaac, Lawal Adeshina and Teslim Olapade were arrested at their hideout at Ring Road area of Ibadan.,

Osifeso said the suspected trailer hijackers also confessed to having masterminded a series of such criminal activities along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

The police spokesman stated that one of the suspects, Olatunji led operatives of the Monitoring Unit to his syndicate’s hideout where the goods were recovered, together with the Hijacked DAF Trailer which conveyed the imported Rugs.

In a related development, Osifeso said the command also arrested suspected members of a criminal gang who specialize in attacking commercial motorcyclists and dispossessing them of their motorcycles and other valuable items.

According to him, “The suspects who rode on another motorcycle and were reportedly armed with guns and some other dangerous weapons attacked a motorcyclist and also dispossessed him of his Motorcycle.”

Osifeso said one of the suspects who identified himself as Sunday Job was arrested and the stolen motorcycle was recovered.

Similarly, Osifeso said some suspected members of a dreaded armed robbery cum kidnapping syndicate invade a Filing Station located in the Elekara area, Oyo, attacking one Alhaji Adamu Issa, dispossessing him of his mobile phones, cash and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

He said the suspects later contacted the victim’s relatives demanding a huge ransom with threats that he would be killed if they refused to pay.

Osifeso however said the victim was rescued by the Police and six members of the criminal gang in their different hideouts were arrested
