To reduce the spate of kidnapping in communities along Kaduna-Abuja highway, a renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheik Ahmad Gumi had announced his intention to train some Fulanis around Jere community along Kaduna- Abuja express way.
Dr Ahmad Gumi said this while presenting religious books to a Fulani leader in Jere town.
Sheikh Gumi disclosed that some Fulanis in the area would be selected for a series of training, after which they will educate their people upon return.
While addressing the crowd, Sheikh Gumi decried high rate of illiteracy among the Fulani herdsmen in the area.
According to him, the only way out of the menace of illiteracy problem was the acquisition of both western and Islamic knowledge.
The Sheik also visited some communities along Kaduna-Abuja highway over rising kidnapping cases in the area. The areas visited according to reports are seen as kidnappers’ zone in Jere town.
Some of the Fulani leaders, who spoke at the event, were in accordance with the Sheik as they agreed to the fact that, their major challenge is illiteracy.
According to them, they area had been left unattended to without education, security and basic amenities.
