Flood: NEMA distributes relief items to 2,139 households in Niger
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for 2,139 households affected by the 2020 floods in 6 Local Government Areas of Niger state.
Director General of NEMA, Air Vice Marshal MA Muhammed (rtd) who was represented by Head of NEMA Minna Operations Office, Lydia Wagami flagged off direct distribution of the relief to the beneficiaries in Lapai, Agaie, Bida, Edati, Gbako and Katcha Local Government Areas respectively.
According to the tweet by the agency, Mallam Sai’du Abdullahi, representing Bida, Katcha and Gbako Federal Constituency who witnessed the distribution appreciated the President and NEMA for the gesture. Also present was Alhaji Ahmed Inga, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency.
The relief materials were 2139 bags of rice; 2139 bags of maize; 2139 bags of beans, 214kgs of 20 litres of vegetable oil, 179 cartons of tin tomato, 357 cartons of seasoning, 107 bags of salt, 206 cartons of bath soap, 56 bags of detergent, 4278 pieces of blankets and 4278 pieces of mosquito nets.
Distribution of relief items
Others were 4278 pieces of mattresses, 4278 pieces of guinea brocade, 4278 pieces of wax print, 1,800 bags of cement, 1800 bundles of roofing sheet, 1200 pieces of ceiling boards, 600 packs of zinc nail and 200 bags of 3-inch nail.
