Developing Story: Nigerian Army In Hot Pursuit Of Bandits Who Kidnapped Teachers And Students In Niger State

The Army said it has mobilised officers and men who are in hot pursuit of the bandits who kidnapped staff and students of Government Science School, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, Wednesday.

Acvording to a press release. Wednesday signed by , Brig. Gen. Mohammed Yerima, Director Army Public Relations:
“Troops in a renewed effort  and swift response to the unfortunate incident  where bandits kidnapped members of staff and students of Government Science School, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State has mobilized and are  currently in hot pursuit of the criminal elements in the general area.” It said.


According to the statement: “In the report making the rounds on traditional and online media, it was reported that the bandits gained entry into the school in the early hours of Wednesday and abducted unspecified number of staff and students  of the School.”


And that the Nigerian Army in performing its constitutional duty is assuring the public that they and other sister security agencies are on the pursuit of the bandits.


“The Nigerian Army in line with it’s constitutional  mandate wishes to reassure the general public that troops in operational synergy with  Sister security agencies are in hot  pursuit of the criminal elements in order to  ensure safe return of the kidnapped victims.

Furthermore,  the NA also wishes to call on members of the general public to provide actionable information to security agencies that would lead to the arrest  of these criminal elements.

The Army stated earlier in the day when news of the kidnaping of the teachers and students broke that President Buhari has ordered that the security agencies should go after the bandits  and rescue the captives.
