JUST IN: Another ex-Super Eagles player is dead

The sports fraternity in Nigeria has been hit with yet another sad death as the news of the demise of former Super Eagles player, Barnabas Imenger has been confirmed.

Imenger who was part of the Super Eagles in the mid-90s died early Monday morning after a protracted illness.

Austin Tyowua, Lobi Stars media officer confirmed the death to The Cable.

He said: “It is true that we lost our team manager 3 am at the Abuja national hospital today,”

“The TM had been in and out of the hospital for a while. He was on life support and used oxygen to breathe at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi.

“Just yesterday, he was referred to the Abuja national hospital. But he died in the hospital.

“Quite unfortunate that we lost a rare gem. It’s a great loss to Nigerian football. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

Imenger and was part of the Super Eagles team that played at the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup (King Fahd Cup) in Saudi Arabia.

He was actually the second youngest member of that team at 19 years.
