Super Six: Rivers Angels crush Bayelsa Queens

Rivers Angels on Thursday showed their superiority as they trounced Bayelsa Queens 4-0 at the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super Six at the Dapo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

Oghenebrume Ikekhua got a brace for the Garden City team after Maryann Ezenagu and Vivian Ikechukwu had scored.

The victory momentarily sent Angels top of the NWFL Premiership Super Six log with five points from three matches.

On their part, Thursday’s defeat was a big disappointment for Bayelsa Queens players and supporters.

The big defeat suffered by the Yenogoa-based side also effectively ended their challenge for the title as they remain static with one point out of a maximum of nine points.

The Rivers State Honorable Commissioner of Sports Boma Iyaye addressed the Rivers Angels team after Thursday’s game.

He gave the team a cash prize of 300k and promised to give them more if they win the game against Edo Queens on Friday and qualify for WAFU come Sunday.
