You Journalists Are Part Of Our Problems- Afenifere Leader, Ayo Adebanjo Blows Hot On Live Show

Outspoken leader of the Afenifere Renewal Group, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has expressed his disatisfaction on the present state of the nation but not until he hit hard on Nigerian Journalists.

Adebanjo who spoke on Channels TV Politics Today was critical about what he considered as ineptitude on the part of current administration in tackling the myriad of challenges confronting the nation.

Speaking on the security situation, the nanogenarian said it has never been this bad since the return of Democratic dispensation.
He said Nigerians can no longer travel by road, or rail for fear being kidnapped or bandits attack. Even traveling by air is no longer secured as bandits are now attacking airports across the country.

The Afenifere leader blamed president Muhammadu Buhari for his continuous silence and failure to speak to Nigerians when the need arises.

He said the president only speaks to Nigerians from abroad. And in most cases, he will either send Garba Shehu or Femi Adesina who only speak to justify their pay and position in the government.

Adebanjo also questioned the continuous usage of the constitution which he claimed was fraudulently put together to favor some regions.
He said the constitution is long overdue for amendment but those responsible for the task will not do it because of their selfish interest.

According to him, the likes of Wole Soyinka, Wole Olanipekun and Afe Babalola had all identified some of the the defects in the constitution but the government refused to do something.

Recently,  Chief Afe Babalola advised president Muhammadu Buhari to set up an interim government for six months after his tenure so that the constitution cam be looked into.

Adebanjo who supported this view stated that all the government needs to do is to set up a committee that will carry out the task within a stipulated period of time.

The Yoruba leader however blamed the press for some of the problems facing the Nation. He said they are part of Nigeria’s problems.

In his view, Journalists are aware of what is going on in the country and how the government is not willing to provide solutions but they pretend they do not know.

He noted that Press do not talk when they are supposed to talk. They only scratch the surface of problems Nigerians are passing through.

He advised them to stop pretending they don’t know what is going on in the country.
