4 Factors That May Give Tinubu An Edge Over Atiku, Kwakwanso & Obi In 2023 General Election

After crossing the first hurdle in his race to Aso Rock, former Lagos governor and APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu appears to have had his eyes fixed on the major task ahead.

The powerplay that will usher in victory in 2023 will be launched any time from now and mother of all politics will now begin to rear its head.

With the likes of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Musa Kwakwanso and other intimidating names that will be on the ballot in 2023, the road to victory may not likely be a smooth one for the APC National Leader.

However, four things are already in Tinubu’s political bag that will work for him in the election and give him an edge over other contenders if he chooses to unleash them.

The first thing is the structure he had built over the years. When you talk about politicians with structures across the country, Tinubu stands taller among the rest.

His signatures are everywhere. This is part of what really worked for him at the party’s primary. From South to North, Tinubu has remained an household name. He is a well known politician with sterling track records.

This will no doubt speak loud for him in 2023. The second factor is his strategy. Tinubu is a master of political strategy compared to other candidates.

It was his strategy that helped APC to defeat the incumbent president in 2015. That bag of strategy is not empty yet and he will revert to it.

Similarly, his template for Lagos state and achievements while in government will speak volume in 2023. Since 2007 that he left the government, his template is still at work in Lagos and the state is today the economic hub of not only Nigeria but Africa at large.

Lastly, the power of incumbency will play a dominant role for Tinubu ahead of other candidates. It is normal for APC to retain power beyond 2023 and the only way to achieve this is to deploy the federal might in prosecuting the election.

This is not alien to Nigerian politics. It happened during PDP era and it won’t be strange if it happens again in 2023. This will largely give Tinubu an edge over other candidates.
