ASUU Strike: LAUTECH Issues A Fresh Statement Over Rumoured Plans To Resume Academic Activities
In the last few days, it was rumoured in the public that Ladoke Akintola University of Technology is planning to disembark from the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities and return to class for academic activities.
The rumour has however been dispelled. The university which is located in Ogbomoso, Osun State has described the news as completely misleading.
The denial was contained in a statement issued and signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Lekan Fedayi.
According to the statement, students and parents of the institution were asked to disregard any information saying the school will resume academic activities on August 18, 2022.
The statement read: “We are not aware of information going viral, allegedly signed by the institution’s Registrar, Dr Kayode Ogunleye, which did not emanate from the university management.
Members of the public, especially parents, staff and students of LAUTECH, are therefore implored to allow the leadership of the university to conclude the ongoing efforts at resolving issues militating against the resumption of academic activities after which authentic information will be issued,” it concluded.
On Tuesday, ASUU reportedly held a meeting with representative of the federal government for the umpteenth time. The meeting which lasted till late in the night ended in deadlock as there was no definite agreement between the two parties.
The Union after the meeting announced that the strike still continues.
