Another death has been recorded in Jigawa state, as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, on Saturday, confirmed the death of one man identified as Magaji Sani, aged 25 of Sabon Garin Takanebu, Miga Local Government Area.
The late Dani drowned in surface water in Gujungu town area of the state.
The command’s Spokesman, Adamu Shehu, who confirmed the incident in a statement, disclosed that Sani drowned while in the water with other swimmers during a downpour and efforts by the victim’s co-swimmers to rescue him, proved futile until local divers were invited to the scene by NSCDC personnel at Gujungu outpost to assist in the rescue operation.
He noted in the statement, “Sadly, after frantic efforts, his body was finally recovered from the water but certified dead. Thereafter, his body was released to his family members and buried in accordance with Islamic rites.”
