3 Presidential Aspirants Who Contested APC Primary But Were Not Given Any Role In The Campaign Council
The ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, has released a 422-member presidential campaign council to prosecute the 2023 election for its presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Campaign Council, which has President Muhammadu Buhari as its chairman, is said to have been punctured with non- inclusion of certain heavyweight politicians within the APC fold.
According to the list released by the Secretary of Tinubu Campaign Council, Abiodun Faleke, while Tinubu is the deputy chairman 1, Senator Abdullahi Adamu is Deputy Chairman 2 and Kashim Shettima as vice chairman.
The likes of Adams Oshiomole, Solomon Lalong, and Hadiza Ahmed were given prominent roles in the campaign council.
However, three of those who contested against the presidential candidate at the primary and who are believed to be strong in their various regions were omitted completely from the list.
They are vice president Yemi Osinbajo, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
The ommision of their names has being a subject of controversy among many Nigerians since the name was released on Saturday.
While Amaechi came as a runner up in the presidential primary, Osinbajo was second while Lawan came third.
If appointed, each of them who are from different regions would be expected to provide strong leadership roles in their various regions during the campaign and mobilize electorates for the party.
But with their exclusion from the list, many Nigerians are of the opinion that the decision may further widen the crack within the ruling party.
