Yoruba Nation Agitators, Lagos Police Clash In Ojota

Residents of Lagos are awake to another round of unrest on Monday morning with a riotous protest at the popular Ojota area of the state.

The protest was said to have been occasioned by the Yoruba Nation Agitators who are pressing for self determination of the region.

According to the video and photos published by Punch Newspaper and have gone viral on social media, there was a palpable apprehension in the area as many people who have reasons to ply the road either took an alternative route or waited till the protest was subsided before passing through the area.

It was gathered that Lagos police command deployed its men to the venue which consequently led to a clash between the police officers and the protesters.

Yoruba Nation rally was initiated by Sunday Adeyemo fondly regarded as Sunday Igboho which started over a year ago.

The idea was to press home the agitation for self determination which has been greeted with mixed reactions from Yoruba leaders and people.

While Igboho has been away from Nigeria for over a year following his arrest at the Republic of Benin and consequent detention which prevented him from leading the campaign, his followers have continued the advocacy on his behalf.

The Monday protest is the latest of the series of agitations that have been held across the region in the last two years.
