VIDEO: LP Spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo Speaks On The Amendment Of 2022 Electoral Act
The spokesperson for the Obi-Datti campaign council and Labour Party chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo has revealed that the 2022 Electoral Act was amended because of the electronic transmission of results.
The Nollywood Actormade this statement while featuring on the Thursday edition of Arise TV Morning Show.
He was on air to do a postmortem of the just concluded presidential election that saw Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, winning the election.
Tinubu was declared winner on Wednesday morning by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu after polling over 8million votes of the total vote cast and meeting the two- third majority as required by the constitution.
His emergence has however been greeted with a whirlwind of criticism as many Nigerians believe that the process leading to his victory was not credible and fair.
Speaking on the development on Thursday morning, Kenneth Okonkwo accused the INEC chairman of not living to the promise he made to Nigerians before the Elections.
He said: “The only reason for the amendment of the 2022 electoral act is for the electronic transmission of results, Mahmood Yakubu bypassed the constitutional process intentionally and willfully to manipulate the Election.”
