I Survived Peter Obi’s Tsunami In The South East- Sen. Abaribe Expresses Excitement After Election Victory 

The senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Eyinnaya Abaribe has expressed joy after snatching victory from the jaws of defeat from the candidate of the Labour Party in the last election.

Abaribe, who is the immediate past minority leader of the Senate is one of the long serving senators who got re-elected to the Red Chamber.

Speaking in a viral online video clip recently, the senator said: “I survived Peter Obi’s Tsunami in the South East.”

He further revealed that it is not easy to survive the kind of Obi-Datti wave the Labour party brought into the political space of Nigeria that has threatened to wipe out even the most experienced politicians from politics.

He however expressed his profound gratitude to the people of his Senatorial Constituency who turned out in their large number to reelect him.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last week declared Abaribe as the winner of Saturday, February 25 Senatorial elections in Abia South.

The Returning Officer for Abia South National Assembly elections, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, announced this before party agents at the collation centre in Aba.

She said that Mr Abaribe, who is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, got the highest number in the election having scored 49,903 votes.

She further announced that LP’s Chinedu Onyeizu scored 43,903, while Governor Okezie Ikpeazu scored 28,422 votes and declared. Mr Abaribe was duly declared winner of the senatorial election.
