LP Gov’ship Candidate, Rhodes-Vivour Vows To Resist Harassment Of Voters By Thugs On Election Day

The governorship candidate of Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has stated that he and his party would do everything to resist intimidation and harassment of voters on election day.

Rovingnaija recalls that the governorship and House of Assembly elections, which were initially scheduled to take place on Saturday March 11, have been scheduled for March 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The commission shifted the poll in order to enable it reconfigure the Bimodal Voters Accreditations machine.

Speaking on the forthcoming election and how he intends to deal with the spate of political thuggery that is peculiar to Lagos state elections, the Labour Party candidate said he has put necessary measures in place to ensure thugs are resisted on that day.

Rhodes-Vivour who spoke on Channels Television on Thursday opined that he is currently working on how to ensure that voters who would be casting their ballots on March 18 are secured.

He alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration had empowered more thugs and touts across the state.

He said, “My focus now is on security and ensuring that people come out to vote and they are not intimidated or harassed because any form of intimidation or harassment will be met with resistance. It’s just that simple.

“This government has run unaccountably for over two decades. They’ve empowered agberos, touts and thugs with so much violence. And they have not been brought to book.”
