We Will Provide You With All The Required Documents To Prosecute The Case – INEC Assures Obi’s Legal Team 

As the legal fireworks set to commence over the just concluded presidential election, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assured the Legal Team of Labour party of his utmost co-operation.

Mahmood gave this assurance during the visit of the legal luminaries at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The appeal court had ruled last week Thursday that the commission should give Labour Party an access to materials used for the election as requested by the party.

However, it was widely reported in the media that INEC refused to grant the request saying it will affect the conduct of the forthcoming governorship election. The commission was said to have agued that it would have to complete the reconfiguration of BVAS before such access can be given.

Contrary to the belief, the legal team of Labour Party during a meeting with the electoral umpire on Monday was said to have received a positive response over the request.

Mahmood was said to have assured the team that INEC would provide all the documents requested for, in order to enable it prosecute the case.

According to the report on Nigerian Tribune, Mahmood said: “We will provide all the required documents to prosecute the case.”
