Reactions As Media Director Of Tinubu’s Campaign Council Expresses Surprise That Emefiele Is  Still In Office 

Bayo Onanuga, the Media Director of All Progressive Congress presidential campaign council has expressed surprise on the continuous stay of the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele in office.

Onanuga’s surprise is coming on the heels of Emefiele’s failure to comply with the Supreme Court ruling which directed the CBN to extend the validity of old naira notes till December 31, 2023.

The judgement, which was given on March 3 took the CBN about 10 days before it issued an official statement directing commercial banks to start collecting the old notes from their customers.

While reacting to the development, Tinubu’s Media Director said it is surprising that Godwin Emefiele is still sitting pretty in the office till now.

He expected president Muhammadu Buhari to have relieved him of his job for failing to comply with the court order but had to wait for more than one week before doing so.

The veteran journalist made this known on his Twitter handle on Tuesday evening.

He wrote: “I am surprised Godwin Emefiele is still sitting pretty in office, without contrition,  after he was forced to scrap his ghastly cashless policy. President Buhari should suspend him from office. Emefiele should go NOW”

His comment has been eliciting reactions on social media.
