Peter Obi Reveals What He Will Do If Tinubu Offers Him An Appointment In His Government

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has stated his position on the government of National unity that is currently being proposed by the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu, who contested under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress defeated Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour party in the presidential election held in February 25.

Obi, who described the process that gave Tinubu victory as faulty, is challenging the result in court.

Speaking on the development while featuring as a guest on the Wednesday edition of Channels TV Sunrise Daily, Obi insisted that the result announced for him by the Independent National Electoral Commission is unacceptable and that the process is fraught with irregularities.

Asked if he would join Tinubu’s government when invited based on the government of National unity being proposed, Peter Obi responded that it is not possible to talk about that without talking about the process that got us to where we are presently.

He said he would be shocked if the court uphold Tinubu’s Election, saying he cannot be part of government that came into office through a faulty and flawed process.

According to him, the process of the election should be put right first before anyone could talk of the Government of National Unity.

“The first thing I want to see is that the process is right. The process through which you achieve anything is far more fundamental than what you do thereafter. Let us go back first, I am challenging the process and the declaration.

“Until we get it right, then we can talk about a government of national unity. Otherwise, we would go and sit down and say that those who stopped a train and kidnapped people can call us to discuss peace when they have people in captivity. Until things are done rightly, we will be encouraging what we don’t need to encourage,” he said.
