How IPOB sit-at-home order paralysed activities in South-east Nigeria

Reports reaching RovingNaija indicate that all states in the South East geo-political zone of Nigeria on Monday suffered socio- economic shutdown because of the sit-at-home order of the Nnamdi Kanu-led Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).

Despite directives of state authorities that residents of the area should go about their businesses, they obeyed the IPOD directives such that no notable commercial activities took place.

Road blocks within the zone, some hours to the Monday sit-at-home order had security men who ordered passengers to disembark from their vehicles, with hands raised up to pass through the checkpoints for them to wait for their vehicles to undergo checks before they could join to continue the journey.

Those plying through Abakaliki/Enugu express way to Rivers , Abia states were held up. In Ebonyi it the IPOB’s sit-at-home order recorded compliance. Streets around Abakaliki, the state capital, were deserted.

The Ebonyi State Police Command had on Sunday assured that it would ensure that those who were willing to come out to carry out their businesses would not be molested by any person or group of persons.

Nome the less, major markets in the state, including Margaret Umahi international market, kpirikpiri market, Ahiaofu, and others markets, were all shut down as at the time of filing this report. (Independent).
