Asiwaju Tinubu is no president-elect, what he holds is a dud certificate that has no value – Datti Baba-Ahmed 

The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed has condemned the process that led to the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president elect.

Tinubu was declared winner of the controversial presidential election held in February 25. His emergence has been described as a rape on democracy by several political observers across the country.

The presidential election was said to have been marred with irregularities and compromised process carried out by the electoral body.

The development has led other presidential candidates including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and other candidates to challenge the outcome at the Tribunal.

Speaking on the process that brought Tinubu, the Labour Party vice presidential candidate said Nigeria does not have a president elect at the moment.

Datti Baba-Ahmed made the statement while featuring on Arise News on Tuesday.

He said: “Swearing-in Tinubu is an assault on the Nigerian constitution.”

According to Baba-Ahmed, “We cannot have a president-elect when there has been a constitutional breach. There’s a clear interpretation of section 134 and INEC’s interpretation of section 134.

“Asiwaju Tinubu is no president-elect, what he holds is a dud certificate that has no value.

“Swearing in Tinubu is an assault on the constitution, swearing in Tinubu is as good as swearing in a military regime,” he said.
