Why Wike Is Against My Gov’ship Ambition In Kogi – Dino Melaye Reacts To Wike’s Outburst

The war of words between the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his erstwhile political associate, Dino Melaye is beginning to take a clearer dimension with the latest reaction of the former senator.

Wike had on Tuesday attacked Melaye over his bid to contest for governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party and vie for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State.

Wike, in a media briefing with newsmen said, “To be a governor is more than acting a drama on television.

The Rivers governor disclosed that Dino Melaye does not have what it takes to be a governor and urged the PDP in the state not to take the risk of giving him the ticket or else, they will lose the election.

Reacting to Wike’s outburst, Dino Melaye said the governor is against his governorship ambition because he refused to be a bootlicker to him.

According to the spokesperman of Atiku’s Campaign Council, in 2019 when he contested the governorship primary election in Kogi, Wike supported him financially, morally and with everything he had.

“But today, he chooses to stand against me because I refused to join his camp and follow his mind by supporting the candidature of Atiku Abubakar in the just concluded presidential election,” he said.

Similarly, the senator who represented Kogi West Senatorial District at the 7th Assembly said govenernor Wike did everything possible to get him (Melaye) to lobby Atiku Abubakar to make him (Wike) the PDP vice presidential candidate.

He said Wike called him 19 times in 2 hours while seeking assistance from him but he refused to pick the calls.

Dino Melaye said these are part of the reasons Wike is against his move to be governor of Kogi State.
